Last week was a rough week, but in the end, everything turned out okay. This week, as I sit down with my loved ones for turkey dinner, I'll be most thankful for unexpected happy endings. What about you?
And what's the most unusual thing on your Thanksgiving table year after year? In our family, it's got to be the "Hot Beans." No, not that canned-green-bean-mushroom-soup casserole thing--although that occasionally turns up, too. But every year of my life, we've kept my grandma and grandpa Corsi'…

Here it is...the first look at the cover of my upcoming thriller, LIVE TO TELL, which goes on sale on February 23.

What do you think?
Meanwhile, it occurred to me that because I switched publishers this past year, there was no excerpt for the new book at the end of my pr…

Like most writers, I’m a creature of habit when it comes to my work. I’m not one of those people who can open a laptop in the yard or on a plane and hammer out a chapter of my novel-in-progress. Newsletters, blog entries, email, yes. Fiction, no way.
In order for me to work on a book, I have to be here at home sitting at my desk in my office. And I have to be in The Position: sitting on my right foot with my right leg folded beneath me, my left foot tucked on the chair beside my right knee, lef…

Nearly every morning for the last fourteen years, I have gotten out of bed (often at an ungodly hour) and climbed the stairs to my second floor office with the morning’s first cup of coffee. Sitting at my desk in the window overlooking our driveway and the wooded slope besid…

Guess what? I just wrote the first few pages of my new book!
I know. I'm thrilled too. Or maybe you're NOT thrilled, but trust me, you will be when you read it, because it's going to be good. (I love it when I have that feeling only a few pages in!)
I tried to start this book on Wednesday when the kids went back to school, but there were a million other things to catch up on around here and besides, I was anxious to have the boys home again and hear about their first day. Too nerve-racking, to…

I spent a decadent 8 days away on a "real" vacation with Mark and the boys--just the four of us. I did my best to ignore anything attached to the real world (blackberry, phone, even my laptop--I didn't turn it on for over a week!).
Ironically, as our long-awaited vacation wound down, I started suffering from what my physician diagnosed, upon my return Wednesday, as shingles. Having convinced myself, in the wee hours of an excruciating night, that I was doomed, hearing the doctor say "shingles"…

Our three-week, 9-state, 2500-mile road trip came to an end this past weekend when we flew first to Denver for two nights, then home to New York just before sunset on a warm summer evening. We were relieved to find our house in one piece, though the garbage collectors had knocked down the front fence post again, and the backyard tomato plants I’d tended so carefully through May and June had all but withered thanks to this summer’s regional blight epidemic. I’m hoping there’s still hope for a sma…

Basically, the middle of nowhere. No offense to anyone who lives in Wall! But this is a tiny town on the edge of the Badlands that is mostly known for its rest stop off I-90.
En route from De Smet, SD to Rapid City, SD to make it in time for my 2 p.m. signing yesterday, we decided we…

Thanks, have a great day!s. I even used to work as a cashier, so I know you need more than half a brain to do the job. But late last month while I was on the road, three bizarre cash register encounters, one right after another, really made me scratch my head.
